Privacy policy
How we handle personal and health information. Last updated September 2026.
Who we are
St Ives Chiropractic Centre (ABN 79 114 949 709), Suite 2, 186 Mona Vale Road, St Ives NSW 2075. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Health information is treated as sensitive information under that Act and is given a higher level of protection.
What this website collects
This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and it has no contact form. Simply browsing these pages does not create a record with us.
Two parts of the site load content from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when those load:
- The map on our contact page, which is embedded from Google Maps.
- The typefaces used across the site, which load from Google Fonts.
Our online booking system is operated by a third party and is hosted on its own website. Any details you enter there are handled under that provider's privacy policy, not this one.
Information we collect as a clinic
When you become a patient we collect the information needed to provide safe and appropriate care. That typically includes your name, contact details, date of birth, relevant health and medical history, details of your treatment, and payment or health fund information.
We collect this from you directly wherever possible. Occasionally we may receive information from another practitioner involved in your care, such as a referring GP.
How we use and disclose it
We use your information to provide treatment, manage appointments, process payments and health fund claims, and meet our record-keeping obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.
We disclose information only where it is necessary for your care or required by law. That may include other practitioners involved in your treatment, your health fund, Medicare, or an insurer where a claim applies.
Storage and retention
Records are held securely and access is limited to those who need it to do their job. Health records are retained for the period required by law, which in New South Wales is generally at least seven years from your last visit, and for patients under 18, until they turn 25.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, and to have it corrected if it is wrong or out of date. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and in limited circumstances set out in the Privacy Act we may need to decline a request, in which case we will explain why.
Questions or complaints
Please speak to us first and we will do our best to resolve it. You can reach us on (02) 9983 0532 or at info@stiveschiropractor.com.au.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
